Power Pad II - Switching Power Supply
Pedal Pad by MKS

POWER PAD II - Switching Power Supply for guitar effects pedals works anywhere in the world! This power supply cycles so far above the range of human hearing that ripple-based buzz (60 cycle hum) is eliminated. At 1.7 (1700mA) amps of current, the Power Pad II will deliver 9 volts every time and can power an unlimited number of pedals. AC and DC power is circuit protected. While there are 8 x 9V center tip negative type outputs (Boss style), you can also use an optional daisy chain cable to add more pedals up to the 1.7 Amp maximum if necessary (available at your local music store).

It also includes a courtesy AC outlet with 6 amps (6000mA) of power in addition to the 1.7 Amps above. This solves the problem of different voltages and reversed polarities because you can plug those type devices into the AC outlet or a power strip for several different type adapters or AC type pedals.

Included Accessories: The Power Pad II 2 includes (8) x 2.1MM 9VDC (Boss style) power connector cables in 2 lengths (4 x 22" & 4 x 36") and a world-universal IEC inlet with a 10 Foot AC power cable. Also included are mounting brackets designed to fit MKS's patented modular systems which may also be adapted to other drop-in, surface mount type boards.

Basic Info About Effects Pedals: For those not familiar with how much power the average effects pedal uses, or what their correct current or future requirements may be, here is some pedal basics to understand. The average Boss style pedal typically uses between 35-50mA of power. At 1.7 amps (1700mA) of available power which the Power Pad II has, you could theoretically power at least 34-40 pedals! Bear in mind, that you won't typically be using all of your effects at the same time. Since the Power Pad II is a "switching" power supply, it only delivers the necessary power to each pedal as it is being used. Most Boss style stomp box pedals are center tip negative. If you have any pedals that are not, you would want to run them via the AC outlet with their own dedicated adapter or by 9V battery since those are typically Fuzz or Octave type pedals that sound best with a battery. Also, If you have a few high current draw effects such as Line 6 Modeler pedals, or multi effects units, whose adapters are rated at upwards of 2000mA, you could plug 2-3 of those dedicated adapters or AC cables into the courtesy AC outlet (or power strip-not supplied) and then plug all your stomp box pedals into the 8 other outputs and you would be set! You can use L6 Modeler converter cables and EHX style cable adapters and attach them to any of the included Boss style cables and they will work (provided that they are running at 9v center tip negative), but are not included or available through us. We suggest to plug those type of units into the AC outlet if possible to keep them running separately since the L6 modelers, and/or multi-effects units usually require larger amounts of power.

The POWER PAD II is available as a stand-alone unit which also comes with mounting ears (not pictured) and it ships as a standard component of the Pedal Pad MPS and MPS-XL Pedal Boards.

International Voltage Users: The Power Pad II runs on standard U.S. 110 voltage. You can, however, plug any voltage in the world into it such as 220/230/240, etc. using a standard universal computer style cable. Just be aware that whatever input voltage you plug into the Power Pad II is the same voltage that will come out of the AC courtesy outlet on the side of the unit if you choose to use it. For example, if you want to plug in a pedal that requires a dedicated adapter into the courtesy outlet and that adapter runs at 110v but your country's voltage is 220/230/240 etc., then you would need a step-down converter. However, no matter what voltage you put into the supply, the (8) x 9 volt DC jacks will still put out the same 9 volts to each pedal, no matter what voltage you put into the main power supply unit. Since this is a switching power supply, it will deliver the required mA to each pedal. For example, if you have 1 pedal that requires 9v @ 50mA and another that requires 9v @ 500mA and 6 others with different mA requirements, the Power Pad will deliver the correct amount of mA to each pedal up to the 1.7Amps.
